The work

What a web application project involves

Applications rather than websites: systems with users, roles, permissions and a workflow that has to survive contact with the way a business really operates. These are the projects where the interesting problems are behind the screen — who is allowed to approve what, what happens when two people edit the same record, and what the numbers have to reconcile to at the end of the month.

Discovery first: the process is mapped as it actually runs, including the exceptions people work around
Data model designed before screens, because that is what everything else has to live with
Role-based access, audit trails and the reports the business is judged on
Built on Laravel with MySQL, deployed to hosting in the client's own name
Handover of source code, database and documentation — the system stays movable
